Last year on August 20, I opened our front door to leave for work and found an older, sickly looking beagle standing on the porch. Someone was walking by with their dog and she ran out to them. This person didn't recognize her and we both thought she looked very ill. I decided to take her to the vet. It was very hot and I knew she wouldn't make it if left out in the heat for several more days. They took her in at the vet and ran several tests on her. She was heartworm positive, had a hernia, never been fixed, and at least 7 years old. After MUCH discussion, Keith and I decided to try to get her back in good health. Our vet said there was no guarantee she would make it. Oh, she was 12 pounds that day. We decided to call her Annie! Mama and Daddy's anniversary is on the 21st, so I thought it was appropriate.

And now, one year later, she is doing GREAT! We've had a tough year with her. Trying to house break her, several incidents with her stomach resulting in a late night trip to the MSU vet clinic, teaching her not to jump, walking on leash, and not eating EVERYTHING that she sees. It has been hard, but I have to admit she is a sweet, sweet dog. She now weighs 25 pounds, has lots of energy, and does her best to keep up with Gracie. I'm not sure Gracie loves her yet, but they manage. It's a good feeling to know we saved her. :)

I am a HORRIBLE blogger.
With that said...We have a new nephew!!! Brandt Hayes was born May 4, 2011. And he's just precious!!!

The twins turned 5!!!! Can't believe it!! They are so sweet.

Mama had a birthday! We love her, very much.

Keith and I bought a new vehicle!! Love it! :)

And, Keith decided to camp out at Daddy's garden. I think he had a long night. Camping is not for me! I enjoy my nice, comfy bed, and the AC!!

Well, that just about sums us up for a little while. Keith's constantly working on the yard, so I'll try to post some updated pictures. I've started my first grad class. I think it is going to be ok.... hopefully those won't be my famous last words. Til next time...

This Easter Keith and I traveled to Winona to spend some time with my Mom and Dad. We had a great time and the weather was beautiful. A little warm, but that is ok with me. We left out Saturday morning and got back late Sunday afternoon. We got to visit with Papaw, help him in his yard, and get some cuttings for our yard. Nothing better than free plants! We hate we didn't get to see more of our families, but we still had a nice, relaxing weekend.

A week or so ago I got to visit Mama and Daddy for a few days. Harrison and Marin were there so we all had a good ole time. Keith didn't get to go because he had to work. Papaw had hernia surgery, so Daddy was back and forth with him. Papaw is doing pretty good now and we are hoping he will get to go home this week. To be 97 and have had four hernia's repaired, I'd say he's doing excellent! While visiting with the kids, we got to picnic at Huntsville. The weather has been absolutely beautiful. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Weekend travels

This weekend was filled with travels for me. I rode to Meridian with Charles and Debbie to see Natalie in her Beauty Revue Saturday. She is such a beautiful girl and we are so proud of her! Sunday morning I got up early and headed to Weir to see Papaw. After that, I went to Huntsville for church, then to Mama and Daddy's in Winona. The three of us then headed to Clinton to celebrate Harrison's birthday. We had a fun time, but it was so cold and windy! I can't believe he will be 5 on Wednesday. He is really growing up. We love ALL of our nieces and nephews so much!! :)

Just an update...

Everyone that knows where we live, knows that we live in the shadow of the water tower. Columbus felt that is was getting dirty and hired some guys to pressure wash it this week. They have worked from 7:00 in the morning til around 6:00 at night. They should have finished it today. You can see in these two pictures how they are accomplishing this... Needless to say, I am thankful for my job!

One night this week I washed a bunch of Annie's towels. Before I could get them folded and put away, so decided to make her bed. I didn't have the heart to move her; she looked so comfortable!

And!! Keith finished my birthday present this week!!!! (just a few months late!) Anyway, I had asked for a new utensil holder. Our knives were too long for the cheap, plastic one we had. I got him to paint it the new color of the kitchen. It looks so great and I'm so excited about it! :)

Last, but not least, our camilla bush bloomed this year. It is the first year that it bloomed and I think it looks beautiful!

This is my 100th post! Very exciting stuff...HA! Anyway, I just wanted to share these pictures of this camilla bush up the hill from our house. It has been beautiful this week. Keith and I walked up a couple of days ago and took these. It is covered with blooms. Mamaw would have loved it! :)

Keith's Winona birthday!

Today, Keith celebrated his birthday with the Lollar's. We had a GREAT lunch-fried chicken, mashed potatoes with homemade gravy, butterbeans, creole monkey bread, pasta salad, and chocolate cake!!! Yummy!! :) We had a great time and the weather was beautiful! Except for the box full of MICE!!!!! No joke, we were out looking in some old stuff in Daddy's barn and he happened to open a box that probably hasn't been opened in years and running around everywhere were mice!!! He said it was probably 8 to 10-I think it was more like 80!!!! Yuck!! And the sad thing about it is they have at least 5 cats in their yard!! Lazy animals. Needless to say, I ran up that hill so fast...and won't be going back down there anytime soon! :) Hope you got a good laugh in Daddy!

February Snow and Birthdays Galore!

This year for Keith's 31st birthday, he got snow!! And lots of it! We had Mexican for his birthday dinner and got a snow day from work! It was very nice. For the weekend, we traveled to Winona then to Clinton to celebrate Marin's 3rd birthday. She had a tea party. We had a great time! :)

Better late than never, right? In January we had a great deal of snow. Keith and I both got to stay home from work! We enjoyed a good time playing in the snow, but one day was enough for me. I am ready for spring!

I know I've been a horrible blogger this year and I promise to try to do better next year! Instead of telling about every little thing since July, I will just hit a few of the high points.

August: Nason and I celebrated our birthdays. Keith and I also had a beagle to show up on our doorstep. She was very hungry and had a few health issues. We decided to foster her and named her Annie. She has had a couple of surgeries and is doing great! We would love to find her a wonderful home. Since I was given new work responsibilites, I was only able to take two classes this semester. It has been a long one and I will be very glad when they are over!
September: Keith and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary! We were able to go to Pensacola again and had a great time.
October: We celebrated Amanda and Daddy's birthday's. Daddy hit the big 6-0 this year! Also, Nason and Amanda are having baby number 3 in May! We are all very excited about that!!
November: Keith received a promotion at work to Tech 2 and I was promoted to Assistant Director. It was a good month. Keith started tackling the hot water pipes in the house. It has been a mess! Thanksgiving was great because we got to see and visit with everyone.
December: We finally got our tree up last night and hopefully will get some shopping accomplished soon! I received a text from Nason that we are getting another nephew! I can't wait to meet him!

That about sums up everything that was going on with us the last part of 2010. I'll post pictures soon...I promise! :)

This past weekend, Papaw turned 97!!!! He was honored at Weir's 125th birthday celebration as being the oldest man. Nason, Amanda, Harrison, and Marin were able to come up and we all enjoyed a great time. After hearing several speeches, we headed to Roy Oswalt's restaurant for lunch. It was great! We all then went to Papaw's for cake and icecream and for him to open his presents. It was such a great day! And truly a blessing! We love you, Papaw!!!!

This past weekend, the Thunderbirds were in town for a performance. Mama, Daddy, and Papaw were able to be there. We were really worried about the weather, but it turned out perfect! Papaw will be 97 next month and has never seen an air show. After getting there, I don't think he was too excited about the whole thing, but once they started to perform, he really seemed to enjoy it. He is a WW2 vet and worked on airplanes when in the service, but has never been in one. He said he still has no desire to fly! Hope you enjoy the pictures that Keith took. Time for an update??

It has been over a month since my last post and boy, have we crammed a bunch in! We've had 2 birthday parties, a wedding, and a new shop go up. First, we started off with Marin's 2nd birthday on Feb. 12. I was able to go to her party and had a fun time. She is growing up so quickly. Next, Harrison turned 4 on March 9. His party was at the baseball field and was a blast! The weekend following that, March 13, my sweet cousin Rebecca was married. She had a beautiful wedding and was a stunning bride! For Keith's birthday, I gave him a shop-we'll the plans for one. Our neighbor, Gene, got started on it this past Friday and is almost finished! His crew works quick!!!! And so far we couldn't be happier. I will post pictures of the shop later-Keith wants to wait until it is finished!! :) Keith and I are both waiting anxiously for spring, even though it feels more like winter today. I'm sure I've missed something, but for now, I'll leave it at that!

Today, Keith turns 30. I joked with him last night that he is leaving me behind in the 20's! And then this morning that since he's gotten older he has to go to bed early and get up early! He didn't seem to agree...Anyway, all kidding aside, I hope that Keith has a HAPPY, HAPPY Birthday!! We celebrated early with a surprise party at Harvey's. The guest list included: Mama, Daddy, Papaw, Charles, Debbie, Kristi, Frankie, Natalie, Alyson, Kerri, Travis, Hailey, Harrison, Ms Eva, Mr. Frank, April, Denise, and Gene. I had been planning the party for a few weeks and was having a hard time not telling him. I'm not sure if it was a good idea to have it at Harvey's or not. I watched everyone get there and go in! I have no idea how he missed it and didn't see anyone! Anyway, we went over and he was shocked! It was priceless. After dinner, we went back to our house for cake and icecream. Keith then opened his gifts. He's building up a nice tool collection! I think Keith had a great party. I hope he is blessed with many more.

Windows, Two Christmases, New Year-all wrapped into one...

I know, I know...it's been a while since I've posted anything. Keith and I had a busy month and some much needed time off work. I spend my days in front of a computer so over the holiday's I refrained from it! I'll just do an update of what's been going on at the house and how we spent our Christmas.

The first of December, we got new windows for the house. They are beautiful and look very original to the house. Keith was so skeptical about getting the vinyl windows, but I finally talked him into it. The windows really "clean up" the look of the house. We have been enjoying those and can't wait for Spring to enjoy them even more. Thanks Mama and Daddy for coming and helping out that day. Keith had to work, last minute, and they were quick to step in and help out. We really appreciate that! The next couple of weeks were pretty uneventful. I got out two full weeks for Christmas and Keith was out Christmas Day-the 4th. I went to Mama and Daddy's on the 23rd and helped her some. We had a good time getting to visit. Keith came over after work on the 24th. Nason, Amanda, Harrison, and Marin all came up Christmas day afternoon for a wonderful meal and to open presents. Daddy also had gotten Papaw earlier that day. Keith and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful family! We had a great time spending time with each and every one of them. The next day, we headed back to Columbus to clean for the Patrick family Christmas. We held it at our house this year. I think we plan on rotating it around to different houses over the years. We worked really hard to get everything cleaned up and fixed up for the company. On Monday, Kerri, Travis, Hailey, Harrison, Kristi, Frankie, Natalie, Alyson, Charles and Debbie, all came over for dinner. Keith and I hope we were able to accomodate everyone comfortably. Our house is kindof small, but we think it is cozy! After dinner, the kids opened gifts. They were so excited and it was truly a joy to see them! The rest of the week was lazy for me. I watched a bunch of Perry Mason movies and a few oldies too. Keith worked, worked, worked out in the yard. He has been building and fixing so many different things! That will have to be another post :)! For New Years we went next door to eat and visit. We were so tired, we went home and barely made it til midnight. In other news, our heat has been out at the house...the heat sensors were never hooked up!!! Two years living there and we never knew it. Something is so wrong with that! Anyway, the house is warm and toasty now! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Keith and I had a great Thanksgiving this year. We started out the day with our Second Annual

Patrick Pancake breakfast. Everything was so good and we had a great time visiting with our family. After breakfast and a nap, we headed out the Keith's dad's for a late lunch. After a feast with all the trimings, we headed home to decorate for Christmas. Friday, Keith worked around the house some, then we headed to Winona to visit with family. Harrison and Marin were up for a few days, so we got to spend some time with them and Mama and Daddy. We had a great Thanksgiving meal with them all on Saturday. We had a great time this year and look forward to seeing everyone for Christmas!

Whirlwind of a weekend!

Is it just me or does October seem to be FLYING by? We've already had SO much going on...this weekend included. Keith is still working crazy hours. Saturday he worked from 3am-9am. This was done so we could go to MSU's ballgame. I picked him up at work and drove on to Starkville. There we meet up with the Jadzinski clan and Susan and Mark. Saturday was Parent Day for the band. Luckily we know a band member, our "family" member, Judy Lynn. She got us game tickets and food tickets with the band. The weather was suprising cool and not raining. The Dogs played a good game, but they just couldn't pull out a win. We had so much fun though! After the game Keith hitched a ride back to his truck with the Jadzinskis. I went on to Winona. We celebrated Amanda and Daddy's birthday's on Sunday. Keith had to work Sunday, so he wasn't able to make it :(. The Lollar's breezed through for supper and gift opening/cake cutting in Winona Sunday night. I didn't get to see them long, but I enjoyed what little time we did have! The kids are really growing up! Anyway, I made it back to Columbus Sunday night in time to get everything ready to start a new week. Whew...now to study for my mid-term for my Math class. I'm very nervous about this! It will be over Tuesday night though! Say a little prayer that I will at least pass it! Hope you enjoy the pics!

Pensacola!

Yesterday, Keith and I started out on our first leg of our journey south. We are celebrating our second anniversary in Pensacola. Late yesterday afternoon we made the rainy treck to Meridian. Natalie was supposed to dance before their home football game, but the weather had other plans for that. After we made her preform for us at the house, we all went out for supper. We had a great time! Kristi and Frankie were gracious to open their home to us so we would have a place to crash. It was great getting to spend time with them and catch up! We headed out early this moring for Pensacola. The weather has been great. Hardly any rain! We made it here and went to our first destination...the Pensacola Lighthouse. Keith has forever wanted to go inside. They just opened it to the public last year. We made the 177 steps to the top! And it was worth it...the view was spectacular!

Tonight, we had supper at Peg Leg Pete's. It was yummy. Since we were finished eating by 6:00, we decided to see a movie. We saw Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (in 3D!). Neither one of us have seen a 3D movie before (that we can remember) and it was so good! Go see it if you are able!

Gene and Denise have done it again! They had a tag sale today to sell off some old things they had, so we dropped in on them. Nicole found a neat little chair, fairly antique-y, that was newly cleaned and meticulously preserved. She knew right away that it would fit into our home, so we snagged it quick! Denise took 20 percent off of the price, too! I guess it's a good neighbor discount or something. As you can see, Patch has taken up residence on the thing. No surprise there. Feel free to come over and sit on it for a while. We have coffee!

Our WONDERFUL neighbors, Gene and Denise, have completely renovated their home and it looks fantastic. In the last year or so, they have been very, very kind and generous to us and have given us many leftover construction items, lumber and the like. Gene works as a contractor in town, restoring many of the century old buildings in our historic city. He told me where to find some heart pine that was more than 100 years old that came out of one of these buildings, and it found its way into the boat I've been building. They also shared, from the same building, a large amount of pre-1900 stamped tin ceiling panels. With a little scraping and stripping we now are installing these panels in our home. Some are in our carport entryway, which is where we and our friends enter, some are in our new laundry room, and some will become a wraparound backsplash in our kitchen. As if that weren't enough, Gene, who happened to have some leftover fencing material, decided to treat us to a new gate and fence on the east end of our house! We are blessed to have them with us, and wish them the best. Gracie loves them too, because she can romp around with Gene and Denise's two poodles, Daisy and Stanley. We just put her in their front fence and let them go for it. We'll have lots of pics in the near future, but here's a start!

Birthday Bash!

My brother, Nason, and I have very close birthdays. His is on August 16 and mine is August 7. When we were younger, Mama and Daddy always had our parties together. He would invite his friends and I would invite mine. We did that for a while until we each had to have our own party. The last couple of years, we have celebrated it together. August is such a busy month with school getting started and all that it just seems to be easier to get together once. This past Saturday that was exactly what we did. Nason and his family were able to come to Winona and celebrate our birthdays. I think we all had a blast! Mama and Daddy cooked a feast and of course two birthday cakes!

I know it is a few days early, but Keith and I want to wish Nason a very Happy Birthday!!

Keith and I got home on Sunday from the beach. The whole Lollar clan was able to go. We had a great time! I don't think any of us were ready to come home. I sat down tonight hoping to upload some pictures. Come to find out, we only took 400!!! That is no joke. I started uploading them to Wal-Mart and saw 400 pictures pop up...needless to say, these are just a few of the good ones! It was not easy picking! Hope you enjoy!

Friday night, Keith and I rode to Starkville with Opal to meet April and JD for supper. We have not gotten together in so long! After debating on where to go, we finally made our way to Ruby Tuesday's. We have not eaten there in so long. It used to be our tradition to go there and have the chocolate tall cake. Yummy!! Anyway, we had a wonderful time! It was so great getting to catch up with everyone. I have missed these girls like crazy! :) Next time, we all hope Opal's husband, Mike, will get to join us.

I have tried, unsuccessfully, for three years to grow tomatoes. There is nothing better than a home grown tomato sandwich. I can get my fair share from Daddy and Papaw, but I just wanted to grow some myself. The first year I tried, I got nothing...not even one bloom. They just withered and died. Last year, I got blooms, but no tomatoes. This year...I have tomatoes! I picked my first two yesterday!! And I think they are beautiful! I have several more green ones. I can't wait to cut into these for a big ole juicy sandwich!

Last night, we also had a little visitor. Keith and I babysat Mikey for Opal. She is taking a workout class and needed someone to watch him. We had such a fun time! He is so sweet! I took a couple of pictures of him, of course. Enjoy!

Keith and I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July! We did. Our long weekend started with Keith going out in his boat, built by him. This was not his first time out, but he finally got some pictures this time around. I am so, so proud of him! He still has to paint it and finish some other details, but he is loving it. When he got back, I made a 4th of July cake. This cake is so neat and so much fun to make. You can make it with any color...doesn't have to be red, white, or blue. Really neat! Friday night we met Opal and her baby, Michael, at Garibaldi's for some good ole' Mexican food. She then came by the house and hung out for a while. Michael is getting so big, but he is sooo cute and sweet!! We had a blast! Saturday morning Keith decided to go out again in the boat...and I was going to try to go with him. I have been very adamant about not going in the boat and I was very nervous. Needless to say, I got in the boat, but never would let go of the pier and was back on land in less than 5 minutes. We were just to close to the water for my liking!! For lunch, Mama, Daddy, and Papaw came for a cookout. We had a great time...it was just so hot! Enjoy the pics!

Happy Father's Day to all the father's out there! Keith and I had a great weekend spending time with our dads. Saturday night we went and had BBQ with the Patrick family. We also were able to endure the heat outside and have fun flying some remote controled helicopters. Everyone was there and we had a great time! Enjoy the few pics!

Sunday, after church, Keith and I went to Weir to see my Daddy and Papaw. We had lunch with them, then picked blueberries. Keith and I have had a great weekend! We are so thankful for our dads and what they mean to us! We love you!!

When I married Keith I didn't realize I needed to be a trained nurse. I guess I should have, but I didn't... For the year and a half we've been married, it feels kindof like I moon-light as one! For his recent health issue, he had to have a couple of moles removed. One they removed totally a couple of weeks ago, no problems. The other had to have a separate day with stitches. They were non-cancerous, thank goodness, but still needed to be fully removed. On Wednesday, he went in for the procedure and came out with 9 stitches!!!!! Can you believe it...??? 9 stitches!! So, of course the mole was on his back, out of reach. Yesterday we pulled the bandage off for the first time and, of course, he says, you've got to take a picture!! So, below you will see his back with 6 stitches. The other 3 are underneath. We have to clean it, soak it with vinegar and water, and put medicine on it. Not to mention, it is right by his shoulder blade, so doing anything is practically impossible! I guess this will go on for several days. I will say though that I do not mind doing whatever I need to do for him! I know he will do the same for me some day.

Conference and things...

Can the summer be any busier!!!??? Last week, I spent the majority of the week in Tunica, MS at the Mississippi Association for Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA) conference. This is the second conference I've gotten to attend since working at MUW. This year I was on the conference committee and had a great time! I got to help out with all the planning and decorations. Also, Julie, my great friend from BancorpSouth, nominated me for an office, Member at Large. At first I was hesitant, but become more comfortable with the idea as the conference approached. Good thing because I was the only one running. So...I am now the new Member at Large for MASFAA. I think it is going to be a great opportunity and I am very excited about it! Hopefully I won't make to big of a mess at it! :) So, anyway, the hotel in Tunica was very nice. We were across the road from the casino, so the only time we had to deal with it was going to eat at Paula Deen's. If you are ever in that area, you MUST go eat at Paula Deen's buffet. It is fabulous! There is so much food!! And the atmosphere is very pleasant. Keith was able to come up Thursday night for our banquet and the hypnotist show. Never did I imagine that he would volunteer to be hypotized. But, he did. Keep in mind this is the first time he has been around the MASFAA group...not to mention my second time!! But, he did it. I was a nervous wreck the entire time...but I have to say he stole the show! I thought he was acting through the entire performance, but seeing him after...I knew he wasn't. I did make him promise he can never do that again! Julie had booked the hypnotist, so I asked her if I needed to be worried. She said she picked him because he had a clean show. So, there wasn't anything dirty...I was just so worried about how Keith was going to act. A few of the things they did...birthing an 18 lb baby, speaking German, Japanese, picking up "money" and hiding it wherever they could find a place on themselves, "saying, "I love you man" anytime water was said...and so much more. And everytime they did something, the entire crowd would turn and look to see how I was reacting!! I must say...he left a big impression on MASFAA. Everyone will definately remember Keith and myself!! I hate we don't have any video, but I did take one pic. I wasn't even thinking about having my camera and getting some video. I was too worried about what would happen next! Maybe I can talk him into blogging about the experience from his point of view! It was so nice having Keith their for a "mini" vaca.

After getting home, I have been playing catch up at work. It was a tough day, with classes on top of that, and orientation. But summer classes will soon be over! I can't believe how quickly it has gone by.

Friday has proved to be a very interesting day so far! This morning about 6:00, I came out of the bathroom from drying my hair and Patch, our cat, was in the hall growling at something. This cat never growls...he cries...but not growl. Anyway, I cut the light on because I was worried something was wrong. So, I bend down to take a look at him and notice he's got something hanging out of his mouth...yep...you guessed it...A MOUSE!!! I start screaming and yelling at Keith to get out of the bed to catch this mouse. Patch takes it into the dining room and starts throwing it around under the dining table. That is when I notice that the mouse is still alive!! I start jumping on the furniture and yelling at the animals and Keith. Keith makes me leave the room while he finds some gloves. During this time, the mouse decides enough is enough and runs under our couch. I'm thinking, great...he's gonna crawl in the couch and die...or eat it or something. So Keith starts looking under there and he finds him!. So he somehow grabs him and says..."Get the camera!" I think he's lost his mind, but then decide this is too funny of a story not to get a picture of! He said the mouse was laying on his side, breathing really heavy. We were gussing he was trying to catch his breath after all the excitement. Maybe he will tell all this family and friends to steer clear of the Patrick house!

I have to say I am very proud of Patch...but am also glad we saved the little guy! He's just not welcome in our home anymore!! :)

Before our eventful morning, we had some very special "invited guests" last night. Natalie and Alyson had supper with us. They are in town for VBS at Fairview. We do not get to see them very much because they live in Meridian now. We miss them so much!! They are so sweet and we had a great time!

Today, Keith and I were able to spend some time in Winona. We celebrated Mama's birthday and Mother's Day. Nason, Amanda, Harrison, Marin, and Papaw were even able to come. We had a great lunch and a fun time visiting with everyone. Keith's headed back to Columbus to do some much needed work and I'm still in Winona for the Memorial at church. I wanted to be there to put flowers on Mamaw's grave and her sister and mothers. Hopefully the weather will be nice. I am waiting for Daddy to get back from taking Papaw back home, so he can fix us some burgers! Enjoy the pics!

So, all of you know by now that we finally got our window in the dining room. Mama made a roman shade for us for it. This was her first attempt at a roman shade. She came Saturday to install it. Keith and I love it!!! It is SO nice! She does such a great job on everything!! I am so thankful for her and all she does for us. I guess this is an early shout out for Mother's Day, but she deserves it! Thanks Mama, we love you!

Not only have we seen rainy showers today, but I also attended a baby shower today. I think I've been to three in my life...maybe four. Anyway, my friend, Opal, is having a baby. She is due May 28 and her husbands side of the family and some friends had her a shower. It was definately unlike any of the wedding showers Keith and I had, but like I said I've only been to 3, so I wasn't sure what to expect! They had a few games, and of course a cake. And she opened presents. She hasn't gotten very much, so it was nice to see her able to get some much needed items! I've known Opal since we were in the 2nd grade. We were close all through college, then went our separate ways. It has been nice to reconnect with her and her family.

Not much else has gone on around the Patrick house. Mama came for a visit this morning. She is making a roman shade for our new dining room window and needed to take a look at it. She also couldn't pass up a trip to Belk! It was great to see her! I've been kindof lonely around here...after Keith gets off work today, he will have put in 75 hours this week. It makes me tired to even type that!! I don't know how he's done it, but he has! He is excited about having a much needed day off tomorrow. I think we are going to visit Papaw and have lunch with him. Well, that's about all for now. Until next time...

Easter weekend

Keith and I hope that everyone had a blessed Easter! We are at home, this rainy Sunday evening. We spent most of the weekend in Winona and just got back a couple of hours ago. I am blogging, Keith is going through boxes, and we are waiting on pizza to be delivered. It has been a great weekend. I was off Friday and headed to Winona early. We thought Keith had to work Saturday, but he found out that they did not have to. Anyway, he came on to Winona Saturday afternoon. We had a great time seeing Mama, Daddy, and Papaw. We even got to dye some eggs! Before I post any pictures from this weekend, I want to catch you up to date on what happened Thursday night. Keith got the window installed!! It is beautiful! It took some doing, but we finally got it in and working around 8:30 that night. Everyone has to come see it! ;)

If you have never been to Columbus, now is the time to visit. The azaleas are blooming and beautiful! Not to mention the dogwoods, tulips, irises, and other things I can not name! Keith and I live in the prettiest part of Columbus, I believe. The Pilgrimage is going on and so many things have been going on around the house. Many people from all over come to Columbus to see the beautiful homes and learn some history about our town. All day Saturday, Gracie and I watched some of these people travel the streets in a horse drawn carriage. Who else can say that?? It is such a great thing to be a part of. Anyway...while all that has been going on, Keith and I have remained very busy. Keith is still working 10 hour days, 6 days a week. The project they are working on has a deadline of April 17, so we think there is an end in sight. We hope so! There's so much he wants to do around the house, but is too tired when he gets home to even think about it. While he was at work Saturday, Gracie and I went on a walk to MUW. I wanted to take a few pictures of the flowers on campus...they are so pretty right now. I wish I had a better camera, but these turned out ok.

At home, we are, animals included, enjoying our new screen door on the back. Our neighbor, Scott, gave it to us! We just had to replace the screen. For about $6, we have a fabulous breeze! The cats LOVE it!

Spring Break Fun!

Whoever thought of Spring Break is fabulous!!! I vote we should have a "spring break" every month! I had a great week...unfortunately for Keith, he had to work most of the week. Keith is working 10 hour days, six days a week. He did manage to have Friday and Saturday off with me this week! I think he needed that break more than anything...those hours are tough hours...on both of us! Anyway, my week was spent around the house cleaning and visiting with family in Winona. Friday night, we had Keith's family over to the house for burgers. Everyone had a great time...I think! :) Saturday we spent the ENTIRE day at the storage unit cleaning out! Kristi, Kerri, and Keith did a good job! Frankie and I felt like we were in the way at times, but it was great to spend some time with them. I think they were able to divide everything up, trash some things, and give some to charity. Now we just have to find a home for Keith's part at our house ;)! I'm posting some pictures from our week. This past Sunday, Keith and I drove to Clinton for Harrison's Birthday Party. We left right after church and made the 168 mile drive smoothly. Amanda and Nason put on a great party! Harrison had a "blow-up jump thingie" and a few of his friends there. I think he had a great time! He never even stopped for a hotdog! He did finally settle down for some cake and icecream and to open his presents! We had a great time and were so glad we were able to go. I can't believe he is 3 already. I've got a few pictures to share...not many of him! He wouldn't stay still long enough!!! Keith and I missed the best show though...from what I understand, Mama got in a jumped with Harrison! We would have loved to see that one! :)

This morning Keith and I woke to a beautiful white covered yard. This is our second snow in our home. The first one was around the first of March last year. Go figure! We, of course, had to get out in it. It was snowing really hard here about 7:45-8:00 and we were worried we wouldn't make it to church. After we took the pictures and had some breakfast, it cleared off and turned into a beautiful, cold and windy, day. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Sorry, no pictures this time. I decided just to give a quick update. Keith and I are both doing fine. I think we are both going stir crazy for some warmer weather! Come on Spring!! Anyway, classes for me are going ok. Just busy. I have a Tuesday night class and it makes for a LONG day! I usually don't get home until around 8:00 that night. Keith has been busy working on the laundry/mudroom. We have the laundry room painted and everything back in its place. The mudroom has been primed and the trim done. We are hoping to get in there tonight and paint. I've been dying to post pictures, but I want to wait until we are totally finished!! It looks sooo good!! I am so excited about it. We have gotten some very old tin that is going to be on the ceiling. For those familiar with Columbus, it came from the Old Oddfellows building downtown. It is at least 100 years old! And it is going to look so good!! :) We can't wait for everyone to see it. Update on the window...it is coming along great. Hopefully will be going in a few weeks! (This is the dining room window.) Anyway, hope everyone is doing great and hope you have a great rest of the week!!!

Friday, Keith and I traveled to Clinton to celebrate Marin's first birthday. I rode down with Mama, Daddy, and Papaw because I was able to take the whole day off. Today Keith turned 29!! It has been a LONG Monday, but I think he has had a great birthday! Tonight, we ate supper at Harvey's. It was so good...as always. After we got back, Keith opened his gift from me. I got him a book he wanted on Joinery...some woodworking book. His other gift did not come in on time.. :( Hopefully it will be here tomorrow. I think Keith and I can say we both had a great weekend!!! Saturday, we planned to meet Kristi, Frankie, Natalie, and Alyson at Proffit's Porch in Columbus. We ended up having a surprise visit with Kerri, Hailey and Harrison, also! Keith was so shocked! Anyway, the weather was beautiful and the company great. After eating, everyone came by the house to see the new laundry room. I think I can speak for Keith when I say we miss each of them so much!! Oh, for birthday gifts, Keith got some money and a flying pig!! He is a cutie!!

So, after lunch, Keith and I loaded Gracie in the car and headed to Winona. We had not been to Winona since Christmas, so we were itching to get there. We had a great visit and WONDERFUL food. Friday night: hamburgers, poutine (french fries, pepperjack cheese, and brown gravy), baked beans, and lemon squares...yum, yum. Sunday morning we all went to church and came home for the birthday lunch: chicken and dumplins', chicken ring, baked potato salad, broccoli salad, butter beans, homemade rolls, and chocolate cake/choc. icing with vanilla ice cream!! I think I gained 10 pounds just from lunch!! So after stuffing ourselves, Keith opened his gifts. Papaw gave Keith a rain guage. Mama and Daddy got Keith a cordless weed-eater, shirt, indoor/outdoor thermometer, and a handmade tool apron. I think Keith has had a great birthday...and it is not until tomorrow!!!!!

Anyway, we are back in Columbus, trying to settle in to get ready for Monday at work. I'll have more to post tomorrow...I haven't given Keith his gifts from me yet!! :) Hope everyone has a GREAT week!!

It is February...

...but it feels like March! As the rest of the world watches the Super Bowl, I am blogging. Keith and I have had a great weekend. Friday night started in Tupelo. I had received a gift card from my boss for Christmas to Outback. I had to pick something up for Mama, so we decided to go and gorge ourselves. It was great...despite the hour wait...After eating, we dropped by Kerri and Travis' for a short visit. They seem to be doing good, and Kerri is feeling much better after her spill (see Kristi's blog!).

Saturday morning we got up early and started to work. Chan came back and finished the laundry room!! It looks fantastic! We have to caulk some areas, prime, and paint. It is going to look so good. This weekend I started priming and painting the window. It had never been painted, so this was a JOB! I've only gotten one coat of paint on it, but I think it is shaping up nicely.

Out the back door, Chan filled in the steps with concrete. We had to be there so we could leave our mark. We also got Gracie, Cobie, and Patch out there! That was very interesting!! Gracie was scared and the cats were just mad. I think we got some ok prints though.

Keith worked most of the day cleaning out the back hill and trying to get some plants planted. He is working so hard to get us a beautiful back yard this Spring. I think he is going to get it there.

And, last, but not least, our new sink stand. Keith built this entire stand out of scrapes, except for the bead board. The only other thing we had to buy was the paint. Even the sink was a hand-me-down. He has done such a great job on it!!! Hopefully it will be placed and running by the end of this week.

ATTENTION!

Please note that the following is meant to be humorous. Just a little something for anybody who has ever loved a house back to life.

1. The dingbat you bought the house from didn't know how to make repairs or contact a qualified painter.

2. If you poot in the attic, it has nowhere to go.

3.The expensive flashlight WILL burn out, but only after the power to the house is cut off and you are in the darkest, coldest, and farthest reaches of the attic.

4. Electrical work stinks.

5. I hate plumbing.

6. No matter how good your friends say your restoration is going and how pretty it all is, it's still full of runs, drips, and errors.

7.Paint scrapers vanished from existence between 1950 and 2007.

8. Plants and shrubs are supposed to grow? Really?

9. The winds of change do, in fact, blow. Once my shop had a roof. Now it doesn't. CHANGE!

10. Hardwood floors, although nice and beautiful, turn the house into a tap dancing hall as soon as your long-clawed retriever mix needs to go out.

11. Electricians in the 1950's should have known that, nearly sixty years later, we would have coffee pots, microwave ovens, electric tea kettles, griddles, and halogen puck lights and should have wired the circuit breakers accordingly.

12. Where the attic insulation does exist, it's the variety that is comprised of fifty years worth of...whatever, and you are deathly afraid to be alone in the dark with it.

13.Nobody else has two feet of water under their house on a consistent basis.

14.The fence in the backyard will rot and fall down the second the deed has been signed.

15. Heating and air conditioning? Huh?

16. Carports were designed to attract the rain.

17.Azaleas run in fear from your dirt.

18.Mud stays muddy longer when you are the proud owner of it.

19. "Ants Marching" is an appropriate theme song for your kitchen and bathroom.

Cold Weather

It has been a VERY COLD week! But we are so glad it is Friday, and we have a nice three day weekend! Or, I will...Keith is having his wisdom teeth cut out on Monday :(. Anyway, when I got home yesterday I decided I needed to vacuum the house...had been awhile, but since it was 63 degrees in the house, I decided to keep my coat on. Keith thought it was pretty funny and snapped a pic. The animals and I have found a good way to keep warm...they just pile on top of me while we watch TV. They have decided that this is the best thing to do when I am in the bed also. Keith has the whole side of the bed, but each cat feels they need to lay up right next to me on either side and Gracie at the foot on my side. I guess they are trying to keep themselves warm or me warm! Who knows which one!! It is ok until the 18 pound cat decides to walk across me at 2 in the morning! Not so much fun! We had a little mix up last night in the laundry. We are putting a laundry sink in that we did not have before. Keith had gotten some pipes and got those put in, we just had not brought the sink in. I was washing clothes and we heard water running...fast...and ran in the laundry and saw the water coming up out of the sink pipes...this should not happen. After a call to Travis, my family, and Charles, we have figured out that the sink drain should be above the washer drain...we did not know this. At first we thought we had a frozen pipe, but after much hot water used, Keith discovered that was not the case. We were supposed to put the floor down this weekend so Chan could finish up next week, but after much texting back and forth with him, we have decided he needs to take a look to make sure. We DO NOT want that happening after all is said and done! So, it may be a couple more weeks before I have any different pictures to show. Anyway...I guess I felt just like blogging today. Hopefully the weather will warm up and we will all have a nice restful weekend!

Last Thursday night, my best friend, April, came for a visit. We had a great time. I fixed chicken spaghetti and we watched Grey's Anatomy. April and I met while at HCC in 2001. She also met her husband, JD, there as well. We had some great times!! She only lives an hour and a half away, in Winona, but we aren't able to get together as often as we would like. She is such a sweet, sweet person and I'm so thankful I have her as a friend! I love ya, Apurr!!!

I have all the pictures I promised yesterday...and more! So, thankfully we live on a hill. Unfortunately, our house is on a hill with a hill behind it. As most people are aware, we've had quite a bit of rain this week. The new project that will Keith and I will be working on is how to keep water from going under our house...and staying there for a while. Also, we will be working to get the water that does come out from standing in the front yard. There's always something when you own a house right??

Laundry is looking GREAT! Chan has the thresholds in and most of the room paneled. He also has the washer and dryer placed. It looks so great!! Keith and I are so excited about it!!

Ok, so I mentioned yesterday that Keith has been restoring a clock. This clock is around 100 years old and belong to his grandparents. Keith began restoring it in 2002. It had 4 layers of paint on it that had to be removed. Rae's Jewelry has rebuilt the "gut" part of it (the actual clock movements). He has finally got everything on the outside of the clock finished and placed back on the clock. He still has to take the clock back to Rae's for them to install the "guts". It is beautiful! Keith has done a great job and I can't wait for us to have it in our home!

So, I thought I would just update to let everyone know what we've been up to. Keith and I are both back to work. I am getting ready to start classes next Monday. I am probably going to be receiving some more duties at work, so I will have to cut back on my class schedule. For those that do not know, I am working on a second bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I was hoping it would not take too long, but now I am not sure. I will be adding scholarships to what I already process, loans. Unfortunately, the scholarship program is very manual, so I will be in charge of placing all university scholarships on each student's account...doesn't sound very exciting, but it will give me some good experience. Laundry is coming along very nicely. Chan has been back this week and his gotten more paneling up, the dryer moved, and the vent for the hot water heater put in. I will post some pics after he works today. Everything is going good with Keith's job. He is going to have to have his wisdom teeth taken out in a couple of weeks. He isn't too worried about it, but I am not looking forward to it!!! He is a large man...and put him on drugs...I may have to get a wheelchair to get him in the house. I had mine out several years ago and all I remember is all the blood coming out of my mouth...and my mom thought I stopped breathing once. It is going to be very interesting. Any volunteers!!!????? So, anyway, Keith has been working on finishing up several projects he has started. The one I have a picture of that I will post about today is his knife. Keith made the knife and sheath 100% completely by hand. The sheath is even hand stiched. He is very proud of it and I am proud of him for getting it completed. I don't like knives, but I have to agree that it is really pretty. He has done a great job on it! I'll post later about the project he has been working on since 2002, a clock! So, today has not been the greatest of days. My Mama, Daddy, and Papaw came today for lunch. Pork chops, mashed potatoes, and the good-luck black eyed peas. But, I spent the majority of the day in the bed. Yesterday, started with a cold...a bad, runny nose, coughing, sneezing every breath, raw red cheeked, cold. Today, while I was trying to enjoy my lunch, without being able to taste much of it, I had a migraine to creep in on me. So, instead of visiting with my family, I ended up in bed for the rest of the day. No fun! Anyway...the headache is gone, so now I'm enjoying the rest of the first day of 2009 continuing to blow my nose...sigh...Anyway...enough of that. On a lighter note, our contractor, Chan, has rocked this week! He worked Monday, Tuesday, and half of Wednesay. The laundry is completely closed in, insulated, doors attached, and some paneling done! It looks so great!! Not the warmest yet (no threshold yet), but it looks great! Last night, Keith and I braved the very, very, very cold weather to attend the "Block Party" in downtown Columbus. Nash Street, from Starkville, was preforming and we've been wanting to hear them for a while now. They were scheduled to play around 9:30, so we walked up the hill at about 9:15. They didn't start until a little after 10:00. I talked Keith into only staying for a few songs because I felt terrible and we wanted to be there at 12:00 for the "ball drop." We left to thaw out and went home to watch a rerun of CSI and wait out the next hour. Well, I fell asleep on the couch. Keith woke me up about 11:40 and we bundled back up to see the ball drop in downtown Columbus. The "ball" was a fabric shaped ball hung up about 20 feet in the air by a crane. Someone lowered it at midnight after the countdown. No lights on it, no spinning, no spot light shinning on it...just a silver fabric covered ball...sigh...I have to say though it was fun. I hope everyone had a great start to 2009 and hope that mine will be better tomorrow than today!

This year, Keith and I have had a wonderful Christmas. I have been off work all week and came to Winona on Monday to spend time with Mama and Daddy. Keith had to work through Wednesday and got here Wednesday night. Thursday, Daddy and I went to pick up Papaw for lunch. Nason and Amanda brought Harrison and Marin for a little while. We all enjoyed a great lunch and had a blast opening presents!

Family Filled Weekend

Well, this weekend was definately the traveling weeking for Keith and me. We kicked things off Friday with a trip to Tupelo. The Patrick family Christmas was held there this year. With all the movings, and scattering about, it was the logical plan. Kerri and family fixed a fabulous meal and we had a wonderful time being with the family. Keith even brought his guitar and lead Christmas carols. Natalie and Alyson sang a sweet, sweet version of Away in a Manger (check out Kristi's blog for the video).

Saturday proved to be another day on the road. After Friday night, Natalie and Alyson went home with their Pap-paw and Nana. We decided to take them to Meridian on Saturday. Keith and I had not gotten to see their new home, and we were itching to go. We were so excited to finally be able to go! Their home is beautiful!! We hung out with them for a little while and decided to stay for supper. We went to a Hibachi Grill. Keith and I had never been to one, so we had no clue what to expect. I have to say I was a little nervous about it. But, I really enjoyed it and Keith LOVED it! Natalie and Alyson...not so much!! They spent more time behind our chairs and plugging in their ears, than watching or eating. I doubt Kristi will be spending any more nights there with them! We had a great time, and made a fun, fun memory with them! I really miss them and can't wait to go back and visit!

On Sunday, my Mama and Daddy brought Papaw to Columbus. After church, we went back to our house for lunch. My mom made delicious BBQ. I think Papaw was cold the whole time, but I'm glad he was able to come!!

At this time, one year ago on Friday, December 14, 2007, I saw my Mamaw alive for the last time. I believe she would remember that night, but she couldn't talk to me. As most of you know, she passed away on December 15, 2007 from cancer. She fought it for a long time. I still miss her like it was yesterday. It seems though that is the way it goes. There are many things I wish I had said, but I believe she is watching down on us and knows everything about us! I believe she even made the fuse blow last Christmas at Mama and Daddy's because she couldn't be there (Christmas day is her birthday)! That is a whole other story! When I think of Mamaw, I think of apples at Christmas, ham and biscuits on vacations, and her telling me stories as I would go to sleep. Anyway, I just wanted to put this out there that I love her and miss her.

For some reason I decided I needed to take a picture with all the "babies" Saturday night. Keith and I had been to Harvey's for our annual Christmas supper. Yum...so good. After dinner, we met Tammy and Rodney at the movies to see Twilight. Really good! Book was better, but isn't that always the case?? Any way...we were in the picture mood when we got home.

Keith and I got the Christmas season started off this past weekend. Friday night we went to all the shops downtown for the annual Wassail Fest. It was so much fun. Each shop has wassail to sample and vote on. Saturday night, Keith, Gracie, and I went to the Christmas parade. It was fun, but COLD!!

Laundry room is still coming along good. Contractor has floor totally raised!! Huge accomplishment!! I was having to wash clothes off the back porch, with the washer hooked up to the water hose!! The washer and dryer are now back in their home.

Pictures do not give it justice!!! It is FABULOUS!!! He should be back on Thursday to start walling it in! So, on Sunday's Keith and I have time set aside after church for a nap. Well, Keith used to nap on the floor, but the hardwood is just not that comfortable. So, since I was not willing to give up the sofa, we decided to share it. After settling in, we had a few visitors join us. The camera was on the coffee table, so Keith was able to capture a pretty good picture.

A Swedenburg Christmas Tree!

When Keith and I got back to town on Saturday, we decided to brave the foggy, cold weather to find ourselves the perfect Christmas tree. Keith's family always went to Swedenburg's for their Chirstmas tree, so it was only fitting that we go there. It was such a neat place. When we got there, a guy with two horses and a buggy picked us up and took us out to the trees. We got a saw and started walking. After looking and looking, we finally found the perfect tree. Keith cut it down and we tied it to the car. It is standing tall in our living room and it smells wonderful in our home!! I can't wait for everyone to come see it in person!!

Thanksgiving Memories

So, update time. Sorry for posting delay. We have been BUSY!!! We have had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday. My holiday started on Wednesday. I cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned some more. Kerri and Kristi (Keith's sisters) and their families came for Thanksgiving breakfast and to watch the parade. We had a great time!

After breakfast, we all loaded up and headed out to Keith's dad and step-mom's house for an excellent lunch. One family picture and game of kick-ball later, Keith and I headed back home.

Friday morning, Keith and I loaded Gracie in the car and headed to my parent's house in Winona. We stopped in Weir and picked up Papaw and headed on. Nason, Amanda, Harrison, and Marin all came for lunch. We had a delicious spread! Nason, Amanda, and Marin soon headed back to Clinton. Harrison stayed in Winona. After an afternoon of napping we ate again!

Saturday morning we got up, got ready, and headed to Vaiden. We had Thanks-Chirstmas with my mom's side of the family. She has eight other brothers and sisters, so you can imagine the crowd!! We couldn't stay long because Keith and I needed to back to Columbus. We had a really good time though.

Whew...I think I need a vacation from my vacation!!

Just an update...Chan raised the floor in the laundry room and got all the hookups ready. He also installed our new hot water heater. So, YEA, we have hot water tonight!! Here's a couple of pics. It is kindof hard to see, but it looks great!!!

For those of you that have seen our home, you know our laundry room is outside. It is located in a scary, old, unfinished "room" off the carport. We are going to raise the floor, widen the door, and close in the area between the house. We are sooooooooooo excited. Chan, the contractor, is starting today. So...bye-bye, scary, old, unfinished laundry room!!! I'm posting some before pictures and some pictures of what it looked like last night when we got it cleaned out. I'll try to put some new pictures each day of the process!!! Oh...did I say, We are sooooooo excited!!!! :)

Friday night, I traveled to Winona to see my mom and dad and visit with my nephew, Harrison. He came to visit for a few days! Keith stayed at home to clean out the laundry room. We are getting it closed in starting this week! Hooray!! We are so excited. Anyway, Harrison is so sweet and really growing up. I've got a picture and a couple of videos I will try to share. He is saying so many things and putting together sentences. The cutest thing is he calls the computer the "key-bu-lar." He loves typing "Some letters," and "some bills." Hope you enjoy!

Well, it was a nasty, Friday morning...but at least it was Friday! Gracie had to go out in the rain...but she was ok because she has a new coat!

Tonight we are enjoying Mama's company! She is here to spend the night. We are having a yard sale in the morning...bright and early!! We are so glad she came to visit!!!!!!

Patch is pretty happy about her visit too!
